Inspiration Point Loop Hike, Will Rogers State Park
Please Note: We have changed the hike slightly — it’s now easier and shorter!
Instead of taking an intermediate-to-difficult hike to the bridge, we’ll be hiking to Inspiration Point. This is an easy-to-moderate loop, 2.25 miles with 325 feet of elevation gain. The gradual hike delivers far reaching views from Santa Monica Bay to downtown LA.
This new route will allow time for our tour of the Ranch House and a social picnic gathering.
This new route will allow time for our tour of the Ranch House and a social picnic gathering.
Once we return to the park, we’ll have our own private guided tour of Will Rogers’ Range House. The tour will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes. www.parks.ca.gov
Bring a picnic lunch and leave in a cooler in your car. After our hike and tour, we’ll have time to enjoy lunch and socialize in the park. There is often an opportunity to watch the Polo Matches as well.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed. Rain cancels within 24 hours of the outing.
Location:
Will Rogers State Park; meet on the big lawn by the house/museum. Take I-10 west to Pacific Coast Highway, north to Chataqua and go right. Go to Sunset Boulevard and turn right. Go half a mile to Will Rogers Road and turn left at the light, up the winding road to the park entrance.
Or take I-405 and exit at Sunset Boulevard and head west. Take Sunset to Will Rogers Road (approximately 4 to 5 miles) and turn right. Go up the winding road to the park entrance. There is a charge to park inside the state park. There is free street parking outside of the park, but it’s a bit of a walk to the WOAR meeting spot.
