ptown_bibs3Dear Friends,

As many of you may already know, I am currently in post production on my latest documentary, CLAMBAKE. The film offers an insightful and exciting look into the 30-year history of Women’s Week in Provincetown, one of the largest lesbian destinations in the world.

We have just found out that the film has been accepted into the prestigious Provincetown International Film Festival where it will have its world premiere! The festival takes place June 17-21, 2015. We are working diligently to complete it by the festival’s deadline, which is quickly approaching.

Many of you have donated to this and/or some of my other documentaries and for that I am extremely grateful. There are no words to express my appreciation for the out pour of love and support for my work. This is a tough road — making documentaries about our LGBTQ history and culture, which is why I seem to always be fundraising. I can’t help it — I feel it’s extremely important to document, preserve and share our important journey. I guess it’s a blessing and a curse — but I do know someone has to do it to ensure our rich LGBT history does not get lost or forgotten, and that generations to come will have a greater understanding and appreciation of the individuals and events that paved the way for them.

So here I am again, in post production with a film that I am very passionate about and firmly believe this is another important story that needs to be told. Realizing, once again, that it takes a village, a community! I have created this special fundraiser, an intimate and upscale luncheon, in hopes of raising the necessary completion funds and at the same time offer an amazing event for our community. In addition to a gourmet meal and live entertainment, guests will have a “first look” at some select scenes from the film. And there are other “thank you” rewards (see below). Please know that I am aware that times are tough for many and whether or not you decide to support the film, I value our relationship and hope that you will attend a screening when the film is released.

With gratitude,

Andrea Meyerson

P.S. If you have already donated $150 or more to CLAMBAKE, you may attend at no additional cost.

The year was 1984. Several women innkeepers in Provincetown, vivacious young entrepreneurs, got together to plan an event to entice their summer patrons to return during the off season. Without the luxury of email and social media, they wrote to all of their past guests and invited them to come back to enjoy Provincetown’s beautiful autumn surroundings, while enjoying a Clambake and some local entertainment. They called it “Women’s Weekend.” Their grassroots efforts eventually evolved to become on of the most popular week-long lesbian events to date, and was the catalyst for many spin-off Provincetown gatherings.

CLAMBAKE, an exciting new documentary from award-winning filmmaker Andrea Meyerson, charts the growth of Women’s Week in Provincetown, from its inception to the thriving, exciting lesbian mecca it is today. The film will take viewers on a 30-year journey through archival footage and photos, interviews with the original founders, celebrities and locals, current event coverage and performances, offering a historical and hysterical look at what a few innovative women can accomplish.
