Join WOAR Board Member Faith on this easy and beautiful 1.5-mile walk which loops around the wetlands!Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is Southern California’s most stunning and exciting coastal wetland. The sanctuary is a nesting spot for thousands of birds on the Coastal Flyway from Baja to Alaska. The wetlands are 1200 acres of some of the last remaining tidal habitat. We’ll see nesting and fishing birds, sea hares, stingrays, sharks, squirrels, falcons, and bunnies. Many of the birds that we’ ll see are threatened or endangered.
After the hike, there will be an optional relaxing picnic at the water on Sunset Beach, so bring lunch and a beach towel or chair. Lunch from local spots is also available to purchase and bring to the beach.Sorry, dogs are not allowed.
Directions: Meet at the Interpretive Center at the SE corner of Warner and Pacific Coast Highway. Take the 405, exit Studebaker, turn right (south) to 2nd St. Turn right (west) on 2nd St to PCH. Turn left (south) on PCH and the entrance is 4.3 miles SE of 2nd St. on PCH @ 3842 Warner Avenue.
Park at the Interpretive Center parking lot. Parking is also available on the North side of Warner across from the Interpretive Center.
