Book_CoversAbout the book
Based on the true story of a lesbian couple who move to a remote English village, fearing they will be shunned, but finding they are very popular indeed… a comedy, a love story and a mystery, it tells the tale of how the secrets that are kept behind the closed doors of this quiet, conservative community make the revelations that Rachel and Frankie are gay pale into insignificance…

Support a project that can help bring change:
This is an exciting project and the intention with the trailer is for it to be a teaser for a TV series, so you will not only be enjoying a fantastic opportunity to be right where the action is taking place, but also supporting the development of a story that has an important message to deliver about inclusiveness and acceptance.

elaineA Personal Message from Author Elaine Sturgess
Gin And It is very special for me, as it is dedicated to the memory of my wife Maria. I started writing the book ten years ago, before she was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away at the age of just 48, a devastating loss that almost broke me. But five years later, I decided to finish the story and write it with as much of her character as I could, with her humour, her wickedness, her happy, free spirit and her belief that ultimately, all that mattered is love.

Bringing this project to the screen is the next part of this journey, a precious opportunity to deliver a message about equality and love that can help to reinforce all the other stories that help the world to reach acceptance. Maria’s passing changed my life – and part of that change was taking me on a journey back to me; to live my life in a way that is true to who I am rather than in a way that I believed was expected of me. I would love to encourage others to do the same.

I’m so excited that Andrea Meyerson will be coming over to the UK to direct; what an honour. And this is a truly international project, with actors from Spain, the US and Austria already joining the team.

If you decide to join us, you will be supporting something that can only be a positive step forward. On behalf of myself and Maria, thank you.
